As lake homeowners, we are entrusted with the responsibility of water stewardship—a commitment that goes beyond property lines to safeguard the natural beauty and ecological health of Silver Lake. Water stewardship means being mindful of our water usage, preserving shoreline vegetation, and preventing pollution to maintain water quality. By practicing responsible land management and adopting sustainable practices, we ensure our lakes remain pristine for future generations to enjoy. Together, we can make a significant difference in preserving these invaluable natural resources.

Q: What exactly does it mean to take an organic first approach as a homeowner?

A: Organic first is a way of maintaining your entire outdoor space without the use of toxic chemicals. In short, do not use synthetic

fertilizers or chemical pesticides and embrace native landscapes as buffers for runoff.

Q: Why is this important?

A: Water quality impacts your health, your kids, your pets, local wildlife and your property value. Adopting an organic first approach is a surefire way to make a positive impact on the health of the Minnesota lakes we all love and enjoy.

Please consider joining the movement to support a healthy environment and reduce chemical runoff into our waterways by taking the Organic First pledge. Your participation will make a positive impact close to home. Our goal is to have 100% of lake homeowners committed to an Organic First approach to managing their outdoor space!
